About Dirty Water

Dirty Water

New York, NY

Est. 2024

Dirty Water is the dive bar hard seltzer, born in New York City. Dirtier than water, cleaner than beer. It's built for your favorite bar: one flavor, smooth brewed, not too sweet and not too carbonated, with 0 sugar, 0 carbs and 90 calories at 4.5% ABV.

There are no variety packs. Light beer got the ritual right: crisp, smooth, no frills, the same every time. Hard seltzer fixed the health math but lost the soul. Dirty Water keeps the ritual and leaves the baggage behind.

Dirty Water Hates Dirty Water. $1 from every case sold goes directly to clean water and environmental initiatives in the market where the can was bought, paid out quarterly and tracked publicly. The first partner is Riverkeeper, which has spent 60 years defending the Hudson River and protecting the drinking water supply of over nine million NYC and Hudson Valley residents.

The Founder's Note

"I'm Dom. I started Dirty Water because I couldn't find my drink."

Dominic Minogue came to the drinks business from tech. He led product marketing for AppLovin's Lion Studios, where games he worked on passed 2.5 billion downloads, and later ran game operations at Rewardify. Unwinding from long days with light beer, he wanted something healthier, but every hard seltzer he tried was too sweet and came in a variety pack of flavors he didn't want.

He started developing Dirty Water in 2022 and soft launched it in New York in May 2024, landing in Citarella stores across the city and the Hamptons and partnering with Lawrence Schlossman and James Harris of Throwing Fits. He still sells it door to door, splitting his time between running the company, walking into new bars, and visiting accounts at night to hear from bartenders directly. "I get the best feedback from bartenders. They hear the truth, without the founder filter."

How It's Made

Dirty Water is a smooth brewed, malt-based hard seltzer made to drink like a light beer. It is gluten free, made with no artificial sweetener, and kept deliberately simple: one flavor, not too sweet and not too carbonated.

The neutral, low-sugar profile is designed for bartenders. Serve it straight from the can, with a lemon or lime wedge, with a shot of your favorite spirit, or with a little juice, syrup or bitters. As the founder puts it, bars can "basically turn one SKU into five."

Tasting Notes

Smooth lemon ice with a natural cooling, menthol-like finish. Light carbonation.
