Our Story
Sonoma Brothers Distilling is more than a distillery, it's a family passion rooted in dedication, innovation, and a love for Sonoma County. With a focus on small-batch craftsmanship, the distillery creates authentic spirits that reflect Sonoma County's rich heritage. Each bottle tells a story of passion, innovation, and the unyielding dedication of a family united by a dream.
The Founders
Founded in 2012 by twin brothers Chris and Brandon Matthies (confirmed on the bottle labels themselves: 'Founded & Operated by Twin Brothers'). Chris, now an Owner managing financial analysis, distribution, and client relationships, spent the early days working in the distillery alongside Brandon, perfecting recipes and distilling techniques. Brandon, Director of Operations and head distiller, is the creative force shaping every spirit, from recipes to distillation technique. Outside the distillery, Chris serves as a Fire Captain and Brandon as a Police Sergeant. Kelly Matthies (Office Manager) and Tarryn Matthies (Human Resources) round out the family team.
How We Make It
Twice distilled in an Arnold Holstein copper pot still, handcrafted onsite grain (and grape) to glass with California-grown ingredients, small batch.

Chris Matthies
Owner
Twin brother co-founder; started in the early days working the distillery floor, now manages financial analysis, distribution, and client relationships. Also serves as a Fire Captain.
Brandon Matthies
Director of Operations
Twin brother co-founder and head distiller; shapes every recipe and distillation technique, and leads brand design and operational improvements. Also serves as a Police Sergeant.
Kelly Matthies
Office Manager
Manages business financials and marketing, keeping sales strategy and growth planning on track.
Tarryn Matthies
Human Resources
Applies an administration and HR background to support the team and foster a family-driven work environment.
