Our Story
Storyhouse Spirits is a small-batch distillery, kitchen, and tasting room in San Diego's East Village. The team handcrafts award-winning whiskeys and gins in intimate batches, aiming to make every sip carry character and depth.
The Founders
Owner Matt "Woody" Kidd first got the idea for Torrey Pines Gin on a family hike in France, when his son asked if he could make a gin from Torrey Pine needles.
How We Make It
Spirits are distilled in small batches in San Diego. The Straight Bourbon and Straight Rye whiskeys are each aged a minimum of five years in American oak barrels, with the rye finished further in Cabernet barrels sourced from a sister winery. Torrey Pines Gin's pine needles and bark are harvested by a licensed arborist from trees on private and municipal land during routine care, never from protected reserves.
