Mainland Rum
Our Story
Mainland Rum is the independent American rum company, distilled on American soil and never imported. For more than 200 years, rum was the most important spirit in the U.S., yet despite Americans consuming more than 25% of the world's rum today, the continental U.S. produces just under 15% of what's consumed domestically. American rum remains one of the few spirit categories without a widely recognized leader. Mainland exists to change that: meticulously selecting single barrels from craft distilleries across the country and bottling every release at full cask strength, with the barrel type, sugar source, year distilled, and state of origin boldly displayed on the label.
The Founders
Mainland Rum is Seth Benhaim's newest venture, following his earlier spirits companies Infuse Spirits Group (single-bottle infused vodkas) and Broken Barrel Whiskey (aged with broken barrel staves for distinct flavor profiles). In 2025, Mainland set out to become the first-ever Independent American Rum bottler, selecting barrels from distilleries across multiple states and bottling them unblended at cask strength.
How We Make It
Every Mainland release is a single barrel, sourced directly from a craft distillery somewhere in the United States and bottled at full cask strength without dilution. Nothing is blended across barrels or distilleries. The barrel type, sugar source (molasses or cane juice), year distilled, and state of origin are documented on every label.
